The next Dorkbot will be 13th May and will feature two speakers
Cassandra Harrison – Gocco. Cassandra is a print and textile artist and founder of Gee How Quaint (www.geehowquaint.com) and is the former Don of the Newcastle Craft Mafia, now based in Edinburgh. Cassandra uses Gocco printing in her work, a technique developed in Japan for domestic printing of greeting cards and the like which was popular there from the 1960’s, but the equipment for it is no longer made. Cassandra will be talking about the technique and about the attempts by Gocco artists world-wide to hack alternative hardware to allow Gocco printing to continue.
Shaun Allen – “NewcastleGateshead virtually, with Vector76” Vector76 specialise in the design and development of content for 3D virtual worlds such as Second Life and Opensim, creating, among other things virtual NewcastleGateshead islands in Second Life
Instead of a third speaker this time, I’d like to use the final slot to reflect on how Newcastle Dorkbot seems to be developing, and where participants would like to take it in the future, so everyone will have an opportunity to shape where we go next.
As usual Entry is free and there will be a pay bar, and it’s in the Lifelab Welcome Room , entrance Central Parkway, (seehttp://tinyurl.com/ljwfoo )
Look forward to seeing you there.
